Action-Based Feedback
Advancing behavioral reinforcement and experiential delight in digital therapeutics.
Year: 2023
Client: Better Therapeutics
Role: Product Manager
This case study demonstrates my ability to lead cross-functional product work from ambiguous opportunity to shipped feature — translating clinical intent into engaging UX, under a compressed timeline, in a regulated environment.
OVERVIEW
I led the design and launch of Action-Based Feedback (ABF), a suite of in-app reinforcement features built on top of an FDA-cleared prescription digital therapeutic. ABF introduced milestone celebrations, goal achievement recognition, and a persistent trophy case — adding experiential delight to the core treatment UX ahead of commercial launch.
THE CHALLENGE
AspyreRx had strong evergreen feedback mechanisms — progress tracking, weekly reports, goal monitoring — but no in-the-moment recognition when patients completed key treatment behaviors. The core question: how do we introduce meaningful, celebratory feedback that reinforces clinical outcomes without crossing into gamification that could undermine treatment integrity — and do it within a six-week window in a regulated environment?
MY ROLE
As Product Manager, I:
-
Facilitated a cross-functional workshop to surface and prioritize ABF concepts against clinical intent & implementation cost
-
Defined product and UX specifications in collaboration with Clinical and Design teams
-
Owned project management end-to-end across design reviews, development, and QA tool extensions
-
Authored all QMS documentation — including user needs, software specifications, clinical design specifications & change control
-
Coordinated sign-off across Clinical, Engineering, and Regulatory ahead of each release
